     The Trade Promotion Office of the Consulate General of Brazil in Hong Kong is part of a network of trade promotion offices managed and staffed by Embassy and Consular personnel in more than 50 countries worldwide. As an extension of the Department of Trade Promotion at the Ministry of External Relations , its main mission is to promote Brazilian exports and foreign direct investment in Brazil.

     The main activities of the Trade Office can be summarized as follows:

  • providing support for Brazilian businessmen interested in exporting to the local market;
  • providing support for foreign companies interested in importing Brazilian products or in making direct investment in Brazil;
  • disseminating information on trade and investment opportunities;
  • elaborating or contracting the elaboration of market and product studies;
  • analyzing potentials for export of selected products from Brazil;
  • providing support for public and private entities in the participation in trade fairs, business missions and other events related to trade promotion;
  • publicizing trade fairs and other events.

     Specific trade and investment opportunities are also promoted through the BrazilTradeNet, an interactive database maintained by the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Brasilia which allows Brazilian and non-Brazilian firms to form business-to-business relationships on-line.

     BrazilTradeNet also contains current information on foreign investment regulation, upcoming trade events and industry shows, as well as market studies on a wide range of sectors. Access to the BrazilTradeNet is free of charge. Interested companies need only register at www.braziltradenet.gov.br and then contact the Trade Promotion Office to validate their membership.
